Under the Hood: Building for Speed, Scalability, and Reliability
From a technical standpoint, Picturo is a showcase of modern cloud-native architecture. Built on AWS serverless technologies, we leveraged:
- AWS Lambda for scalable compute without server management, enabling rapid deployment of new features and automatic scaling based on demand.
- DynamoDB, an in-memory NoSQL database, for ultra-fast data access and caching, ensuring real-time search responsiveness.
- Redis as a highly performant caching layer to accelerate frequent data lookups and manage real-time session data, minimizing latency for users searching for photographers nearby.
- CloudFront CDN to deliver static assets and media quickly across geographies, minimizing latency for users worldwide.
The entire platform is designed with microservices principles to isolate functionality, making maintenance, updates, and scaling easier as user demand grows. We also implemented robust monitoring and logging using AWS CloudWatch and X-Ray, ensuring that performance bottlenecks or errors can be quickly identified and resolved.
